Our world and perspectives are changing because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a company, we’re concerned about the health of our customers, employees and community. Since 2001 our focus has been to help customers achieve their clean energy goals so that we keep moving closer to carbon neutrality.
How long does coronavirus live outside the body? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates it could be viable for “hours to days.”
A preliminary study published this week found the virus could be detected in the air for up to three hours after it was aerosolized with a nebulizer, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel.
The newest research, which has not yet been peer reviewed, was conducted by scientists at the National Institutes of Health, Princeton University, the University of California and the CDC.
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, we’re trying new ways of doing business to keep our customers, employees and community safe. Yesterday, we asked our office staff to start working from home. Our field crews will continue to work on installing battery backup, solar photovoltaic systems and electric vehicle charging stations. Our salespeople will continue to use satellite imagery and will conduct remote sales calls with customers until further notice.
The field crews will stay out of homes and offices as much as possible and we’re implementing additional cleaning and sterilization procedures in our vehicles.
In our office and warehouse, we’ve implemented additional cleaning and sterilization procedures – paying close attention to doorknobs, counters, bathrooms and other common areas.
As in the past, there will be new challenges as we adapt to new behaviors, but we’ll get through this together, just like after the Nisqually earthquake, 911 and the Great Recession, all events that impacted our community as a whole.
It’s encouraging to see the worldwide efforts at temporarily changing social behaviors to reduce the risk of spreading what can be a fatal disease. Similar motivators exist in the fight against climate change.
