Buy Now – The Cost Of Solar Is Going Up

For the first time in a decade, the cost of solar is going up.

If you’re considering solar, the time to buy is now, because our supply chain is signaling price increases are coming. One by one, solar manufacturers are increasing their prices and some of the related products, (circuit breakers, solar racking) are also becoming harder to source.

Buy now to avoid the higher pricing and to ensure your solar project will get completed in the 2021 tax year.  There is a 26% Federal Tax Credit this year (and 2022). There is no sales tax in Washington for solar projects and you can still take advantage of Net Metering.

This news comes after a decade of huge price reductions (90%) in solar products but is consistent with what is happening with inflation in the rest of the economy. Solar still remains much less expensive than in the past, but we’re about to see a reversal in the downward pricing trend, at least until manufacturers and the supply chain can fully recover from the pandemic.

With Seattle City Light announcing another increase in their electrical rates over the next five years, this may be the best opportunity to lock down your electrical costs.
