Several representatives from Big Oil met with Congress to discuss their companies role in disinformation campaigns about the Climate Crisis.

Predictably, none of the Big Oil representatives acknowledged funding disinformation campaigns nor would they commit to stop funding advertisements against electric vehicles and other climate policies.

“I’ll tell you what’s frustrating, is a member of Congress telling American oil and gas companies to reduce production,” said Representative Jim Jordan, Republican of Ohio, adding that he felt those companies should instead be commended for increasing production. “God bless Chevron,” he said.

Oil and coal moved our society forward with modern conveniences but it comes with a high price tag … carbon emissions that are causing mayhem on the environment. Now that we know better, we all share the burden of working to reduce our carbon emissions and it’s not helpful when Big Oil and Big Coal flex their political clout in order to make a profit when technologies like wind, solar, energy storage are now available to replace fossil fuels.

People over profit. Simple concept. Please continue to let your elected officials know to make decisions that benefit the planet rather than large, multinational corporations.
