Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine is dominating headlines across the globe. We are appalled by the aggression and our thoughts are with our friends in the Ukraine. The impacts of the invasion will be felt no matter where one resides, from the loss of life and freedoms, to supply chain issues and even increased costs for fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels are just one part of this story but it’s important to recognize how energy security is increasingly part of why our customers choose to go solar or solar+energy storage. Almost 50-years-ago, during the 1973 OPEC oil embargo against the United States, the price of crude oil increased by 70%. At that time, some gas stations implemented rules like odd-even rationing. If your the last digit of your vehicle was even, it could only fill up on even-numbered days.

By changing our habits slightly, like going solar and driving an electric vehicle, we reduce fossil fuel emissions while increasing our energy and national security by being less dependant upon foreign interests. Imagine importing the fuel for your car directly from your roof! Several of our employees and many of our customers do this already.

Our company’s mission is “To create and enable the energy revolution with an inspired and innovative team dedicated to ending fossil fuel emissions through excellence of design, installation, and customer service.”

More importantly, for now, we are thinking about how we can help our friends in the Ukraine.

Financial donations to help Ukrainians can be made via the USA for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees website, the Ukrainian Association of Washington site, the International Committee of the Red Cross and UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund).
