KOMONews just featured a 36.12kW solar photovoltaic system we installed last year for the Bremerton Boys and Girls Club. The system was paid for by Puget Sound Energy‘s (not related to Puget Sound Solar) Green Power Solar Grant program, helping the club reduce it’s operating expenses to make participating in sports and other programs more affordable for families. The grant was part of a set of 15 solar grants dispersed by PSE’s program to nonprofits, public housing authorities, and tribal entities serving low-income and Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) community members. Solar and social justice go well together!

“Our program staff members are excited to partner with both Puget Sound Solar and Puget Sound Energy to educate our club members on the STEM concepts of green energy and its benefits to the greater community,” said President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound Carrie Prudente Holden

We love these kinds of projects, where everyone comes out a winner. If you’re a Puget Sound Energy customer but your house isn’t suitable for solar, you can enroll in their Solar Choice or Green Power programs to help accelerate PSE’s transition away from fossil fuels and to help organizations like the Boys & Girls Club spend money on fun stuff instead of on electricity bills.
