Puget Sound Solar will partner with Sustainable Magnolia and Northwest SEED in Solarize Seattle’s next photovoltaic endeavor in the Magnolia neighborhood.  Solarize Seattle is a neighborhood effort designed to bring solar energy to Magnolia homes. By working as a team, neighbors are coming together to realize significant savings through the group purchase of solar panels.  Over the next six months Magnolia will be the focus of an intense outreach and educational effort designed to familiarize as many neighbors as possible with the benefits of and possibilities for solar energy production in their homes, and to offer them a chance to purchase these systems from a trusted source at reduced prices.  Special financing options are available at low interest rates as well as an offer by Puget Sound Solar to pay the customer portion of EPS home energy assessments that are partially subsidized by Seattle City Light.

The result will be a significant increase in solar energy production in Seattle, following the first Solarize Seattle program that is taking place on Queen Anne Hill.

If you are a Magnolia resident you will want to attend the Free Introductory Solar Workshops:

  • Saturday, September 24 11:30 – 1:00 p.m. Magnolia Library
  • Thursday, October 20 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Discovery Park ELC

There will be other Solarize neighborhoods in the coming months.  For more information check out http://www.solarizeseattle.org/

About The Author - Jeremy Smithson

Started Puget Sound Solar in 2001 with 30 years of construction contracting experience, and a desire to turn Seattle on to solar energy. Achieving NABCEP certification in 2004, Jeremy believes that our customers often follow a path similar to the one he took, starting out with solar daydreaming, then progressing to education on the subject, and eventually leading to action. In addition to leading the company he also does some teaching and speaking engagements about various aspects of solar energy, and experiments relentlessly with various solar, energy efficiency, and electric vehicle projects.
