Solar panels are not usually thought of as architecturally appealing, most often in the context of installation on the roof of a home.  There is one application that can look good, though, and that is as a shade structure.  Whether it is an awning over a window, or a pergola over a deck or patio, PV panels can look pretty good if the installation is clean and uncluttered.

For the project picture featured here, there are basically three elements:  Cedar wood, white plastic, and aluminum.  The mounting, grounding, and wiring of the panels is 95% hidden so as not to distract from the simple lines of 4 x 6 rafters and beam.
