In 2017 we were contacted by Tesla to explore the possibility of Puget Sound Solar joining the Tesla team as an installing contractor.  After a thorough vetting process, we are now a Tesla PowerWall Certified Installer.  We are selling and installing the Tesla PowerWall 2 that is produced here in the U.S.  We have been admirers of Tesla’s technology for years and are users of their vehicle technology with our RAV4 EV that is powered by a Tesla battery, inverter and motor.

All of the products that Tesla has developed over the years have gotten our attention because of their potential to be game changers, and the PowerWall is no exception.  In typical Tesla fashion, the PowerWall represents a departure from previous battery storage solutions in design and function.

The PowerWall 2 is Tesla’s latest model and features an all-in-one package of batteries, control, and electrical interface components that simplify design and installation.  Storage for power outages is the most common battery application for which we get requests, but as utilities begin to change their rate policies, so-called ‘self-consumption’ of solar power when the sun goes down is on the horizon.  In Germany and Hawaii where a large percentage of electricity is produced by the sun, there is already a lot of battery usage in order to maintain the stability of the power grid and California is close behind.  In these places battery storage is either mandated or rewarded, or both.

If you have been thinking about adding back-up power to your electrical system, whether at home or at work, Tesla has a solution for you.  Call us today with your questions!
