The Seattle City Council approved City Light’s request to increase it’s electrical rates over the next five years.

If you don’t like being in control of your electrical rates, then it’s time to stop renting your electricity from City Light and time to lock in your costs for at least the next 25+ years by going solar. Most solar panel manufacturers have a 25 year production guarantee and we pair that with our industry-leading 25 year Workmanship Warranty. Check out an example of a solar quote showing the levelized value of going solar.

The following graph compares the long-term cost of going solar versus sticking with Seattle City Light. In this model, the cost of the customers monthly payment for the solar equipment becomes less than their previous electrical bills 8.5 years after the installation and it shows the customer saving $5,692 in electrical costs until year 25. (Solar PV systems have 25 year production warranties so anything beyond the warrantied 25 year point is a bonus, lowering the overall cost of your electricity.) The blue line shows how the finances work out if a solar loan is used and the green line represents even greater savings (lower levelized costs) when the customer pays cash instead of taking out a loan.
