Senator Manchin is facing an unexpected source of opposition to his position against the Build Back Better legislation, the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) and the West Virginia A.F.L.-C.I.O.

Both labor organizations and his constituents recognize that coal has passed it’s time and that clean energy is the future, yet Manchin continues to position himself against the proposed bill.

Senator Manchin and his family make money from their coal-based businesses and he’s received more money from the fossil fuel industry, (coal, oil and gas industries) than anyone else involved in the current election cycle.

At this point, he is the lone Democrat opposing the bill. With his vote in the Senate, the bill could pass both Congress and the Senate.
